STILL DEATH! DARFUR STILL DEAF?
October 2nd, 2007
Vanessa Beecroft , Italian artist, has already made a name for herself through her live performances with naked or barely dressed women standing still in poses.
Although Beecroft is a social and political activist, her previous performances were rather a mixture of fashion, art and theatre, but her recent live performance was much more than that.
STILL DEATH! DARFUR STILL DEAF? took place at Pescheria (Fish-market) Rialto in Venice in early august 2007 showed about 30 Sudan naked women lying on white canvas, facing the ground, while they were poured with “blood”. They looked like “dead bodies” and were representing the victims of Sudan`s genocide.
The audience was this time confronted with raw and inhuman situation in Darfur and were left with their reflections.

Spencer Platt (USA) is the winner of 2007 of annually famous http://www.worldpressphoto.org competition. The winning photo of 2006 depicts youngsters passing bombed district in southern Beirut, Lebanon on august 15th with a red cabrio.
The captured moment is a synonym for a world, in which we are living.
That moment demonstrates that we have lost strength and that we already have given up. In fact we have become victims of all kind of idealism’s, religious, political, economical,… In other words we are victims of human conflicts. We are not able to understand each other anymore, even the meaning of the words is disappearing. The word compromise is one of those, which has become incomprehensible. Nevertheless, we all are speaking own languages now and therefore starring into different ways.
Above all, human race is already responsible for natural catastrophes, which have become almost an absolute term nowadays. Day by day we are left with such impressions, so as it wouldn`t be enough, we need additional force to destroy ourself.
The lost-lost position has won.

LUMINARIUM – LEVITY II
August 31st, 2007
A truly visual spectacle LEVITY II was made by Alan Parkinson, architects-of-air and it is his fourth creation after Arcazaar, Ixilum and Amazozo.
This mind blowing architecture is handmade of special translucent plastic, which is thinner than 1 mm and the pressure of inflated air is keeping it on the place. The balloon Labyrinth consists of many multi colored eye catching halls and tunnels which were inspired by the Islamic architecture.
Beside the architecture, the laid back atmosphere in there is giving you an impression of orient. A kind of psychadelic orient.
The experience of light could not be described by words, it is magical, even the dreams are not coming closer.
Touring dates of Levity II are announced on architects-of-air.
Let photos speak for themselves.
